May 2010 Newsletter

IMPORTANT - MEMBER UPDATES NEEDED

Except on an individual basis, most of our membership records have not been updated for many, many years! We are asking that all members complete a new membership application so that we can update emergency information, update our newsletter mailing list, see what interest you have in new activities, update our Senior Club membership list and more.

In this month‟s newsletter, you will notice an application for the Senior Center. Please bring or mail the completed membership application to the Center. Instead of bringing it in, you may pick up an application the next time you are at the Center and fill it out while you are there.

We want to complete this process as soon as possible. Anyone that does not have a new application filled out within a few months will be dropped from the newsletter mailing list.

Thank you for your cooperation.

A Mother’s Worth

Georgia B. Adams

Even if the whole world could be mine,

With every single wish at my command,

And if I had the widest choice of friends,

Sweetly fulfilled in my well-laid plans,

And if I were to choose

What in life mattered most to me,

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt,

Twould be my mother, yes, it would be she.

Who else through life, except my God above,

Remained steadfast, unmovable, and true?

Who, with a word of love and patient care,

Bore me up and every wave subdued?

Who gave unstintingly of herself

And never counted costs, though vast they were?

I only know that God loaned her to me,

And I will always love and cherish her.

Though the kings of this world have wealth untold

And their coffers overflow with jewels rare,

When one has a mother valued at great price

No earthly things can quite compare.

Happy Mother‟s Day!

February, so if you just received a new EPIC card, you will be getting a new one issued and that will be the one that is effective.

The new cards will no longer have your social security number as the ID. Show your new card to your pharmacy. If you fail to do this, your EPIC will not be active. When you receive your new card you should destroy your old one immediately. To enroll in EPIC, seniors must have annual incomes under $35,000 if single, or under $50,000 if married. Seniors with a Medicaid spend-down plan are eligible, but those with full Medicaid benefits are not. Seniors with moderate incomes pay a low quarterly fee and participate in the Fee Plan. Those with higher incomes participate in the Deductible Plan and must meet an annual deductible. Members who pay a fee or those who have met their deductible, pay a co-payment at the pharmacy when purchasing prescriptions. By using EPIC and Medicare drug coverage together, seniors not only save more on prescription drugs, but have better coverage.

Confused? A representative will be at the center on Wednesday, May 25th, and June 15th from 12:30-2:00 pm or call the toll-free EPIC Hotline at 1-800-332-3742 (TTY 1-800-290-9138). Their website is:
