Welcome to the City of Tonawanda located at the Gateway to the Erie Canal.

    

The City of Tonawanda is located along the picturesque Niagara River and Erie Canal, along the route between Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York.  Our miles of waterfront parks offer spectacular views from Niawanda and Gateway Parks that bring visitors to our shores for the many summer activities we have to offer. 

 

          Tonawanda offers miles of bike and walk paths in our many parks, summer concerts, clubs and restaurants, Canal Fest (third week in July), Winter Walk, Downtown Business District, boat launching and docking, fishing pier, canoe/kayak/water bike rentals, and historical museums to name just a few.  Park shelter rental for any size gatherings are available for your use.  Youth programming through our own Recreation Department or some of the many youth organizations in our city are second to none.

     The City of Tonawanda elected officials includes a Mayor, a Treasurer, a City Attorney, a Council President, and 1st Ward-2nd Ward-3rd Ward-4th Ward Council Members that meet formally twice a month on the first and third Tuesdays at 7:00PM.  The meetings are held at Tonawanda City Hall, 200 Niagara Street.  All are welcome to attend the meetings and the informal sessions prior to the meetings.  Meeting minutes are available on this website also.  City Code and Charter are available by clicking here.

    

    Tonawanda has a full-time Police Department and Fire Department, Public Works Department, Treasurer/Clerk/Assessor Departments, Building Inspector, Engineer, Parks & Recreation Departments, along with Volunteer Fire and Auxiliary Police
