REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FOR

ERECTING A SWIMMING POOL

A Building Permit is required for all swimming pools having a water depth exceeding 18” in depth and more than 300 cubic feet in capacity.

PROPERTY SURVEY AND POOL LOCATION

An accurate survey of the property showing all existing buildings, fences and overhead electrical lines.

Swimming pool location must be shown on survey

Swimming pool must be located behind the front set back of the dwelling.

Pool must be a minimum of six (6) feet from all property lines and six (6) feet from the dwelling.

Proof of application to New York Board of Fire Underwriters must be submitted.

Drawing showing compliance with all electrical requirements must be submitted.

All pools located within 25’ of any power lines must have location approved by National Grid.

Compliance with Fencing Requirements must be shown on survey.

All pools must be enclosed with a fence in compliance with Section 82-417 of the City of Tonawanda Swimming Pool Ordinance

and The New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code regarding Barrier Requirements.

All pool installers must obtain a current City of Tonawanda contractor’s license.
